Contact
Children’s Supervised Contact
Supervised contact allows quality
time for children to build and maintain relationships with family members from
whom they are separated.
Contact is facilitated in a safe,
child focused confidential setting and service. During a contact visit children
remain safe from physical, sexual and emotional abuse.
Why Supervised
Contact

agree Supervised Contact is necessary.

never have been contact between a parent
and child or contact has not occurred
for a long time.

The Family
Court has made an order for Supervised Contact.

be in the care of Child Youth and Family Services.

In
December 2002 the Government signalled that it will contribute towards the
cost of contact ordered by the Family Courts. This funding is now available to providers approved by Child Youth and Family. Please talk to your lawyer or service provider for more information.
Service providers can contact the Ministry of Justice for further information about how
such approval can be applied for.
